We have developed a special series of flywheels that can be electrically or mechanically coupled with diesel generators to smooth power transmission. Flywheel inertia lowers engine speed fluctuations and stores excess energy to overcome periods of peak demand. All this allows to reduce fuel consumption by up to 30% and turns a regular diesel generator into a high-response uninterruptible power supply system (UPS).
By combining a hydrogen or natural gas/biogas fuel cell with a flywheel, we can achieve a much more stable power supply and energy storage possibility of up to 24 hours. Moreover, in combination with a flywheel, less capacity from fuel cells is required, which significantly reduces fuel consumption and costs.
The flywheel, combined with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), can be used as a UPS system that helps overcome medium to long term power outages. Thanks to the built-in flywheel, the reaction time is reduced to milliseconds, making the system ideal for supporting critical missions and other important applications.
Our hybrid solution, which combines turbine-driven flywheels with Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES), makes it possible to store large amounts of electricity as high-pressure air, which can be converted back into electricity if needed.
